Training for the washroom April 1st 2006 According to Dave Rogers, general manager, Unger UK, the company's Washroom Training DVD helps improve cleaner productivity and boost washroom standards
Keeping washrooms clean, sanitary and orderly can be a daunting and time-consuming task for building managers and the maintenance staff they manage. With washroom cleaning standards improving, building managers understand the importance of employee training and safety - which is an important part of maintaining optimum washroom hygiene and preventing the spread of bacteria.
However, the importance of training can sometimes be overshadowed by other issues when releasing staff for formal training, such as time, staff availability and budgetary constraints. Dedicated to developing best practices in the cleaning industry, Unger has introduced an in-house training DVD designed to assist in the training of cleaners. Focusing on the company's Washroom System, the DVD aims to improve productivity and hygiene by demonstrating how Unger's tools can make professional cleaning tasks more easy and efficient.
The 30 minute DVD divides tasks into Daily Cleaning and Project Cleaning. The daily cleaning section outlines the tasks workers must perform each day, while project cleaning examines the cleaning tasks that are performed on a less regular basis.
Available with four European language options including English, French, German and Spanish, the DVD takes the viewer through each stage of the Washroom System cleaning process. Starting with an introduction to the Unger washroom cleaning tools, the DVD covers the removal of debris, cleaning of toilets and urinals, cleaning wash basins and floor cleaning. The DVD demonstrates how to maximise the benefits of each tool and provides advice on cleaning methods to minimise the risk of cross contamination.
Dave Rogers, General Manager at Unger UK said, "Education of our customers is very important for Unger. This DVD is part of our plan to provide a range of high quality training resources that will benefit the individual, making work more efficient, ergonomic and productive."
The DVD concludes with an outline of the company's SmartColor System, which shows how the colour coding of Unger's cleaning tools can help users organise equipment by task and improve overall sanitation in areas outside the washroom such as kitchens, classrooms and laboratories.
The SmartColor Cleaning System encourages cleaning through its colour coding system. Colour coding keeps tools organised, assists with employee training and helps prevent cross contamination. Tools are divided according to the high and low-risk areas for which that are intended to clean, resulting in increased sanitation and improved efficiency. Unger's SmartColor products include, the SmartColor MicroMop, SmartColor SwivelBrush and SwivelCornerBrush and SmartColor MicroWipes.
Another attraction of the SmartColor System is its ability to produce better communication by removing language and literacy barriers and allowing supervisors to effectively monitor staff activity. The colorcoding provides supervisors with quick visual indicators for monitoring employee activity to prevent tool or chemical misuse. In addition to improving the cleaning process, the SmartColor System also enhances the professional appearance of employees.
