How to prevent and cope with spills
October 1st 2004

Spill Awareness and Control:This video from Fosse Liquitrol is a detailed review of best practice procedures to prevent, control and clean-up spills. It contains information, in line with the Environment Agency and SEPA guidelines and current legislation on spill prevention and control, that considers the correct handling and storage of all types of liquids and illustrates the damage that can be done to the environment.

Listing all the relevant regulations regarding spill prevention and best practice procedures; it also discusses secondary containment solutions and the correct storage and handling of all types of liquids.

Correct methods to clear up spills and dispose of the cleaning materials effectively are demonstrated using actual products and a review of an emergency spill response ‘8 point plan’ completes all the procedures that should be adopted in order to ensure best practice and comply with the relevant regulations.

This video is clearly and practically presented with demonstrations, useful references to regulations and descriptive comparisons and its references to the natural environment relate it to very topical issues. It would be ideal as a support for spill control training courses, to inform and educate new employees and provide refresher training, and is aimed to support the roles of the First Responder, Supervisor, Engineer and Health & Safety Manager.
