Expansion for key training provider May 1st 2005 For some years now B-Skill has been building up a solid reputation for quality training delivery in the Cleaning and Support Services Sector. In six years the Company has grown tenfold to a turnover of £2.5m last year and on-target sales of £4m in the current financial year.
From its small beginnings on South Tyneside B-Skill has grown national capability to meet demand for high quality well supported training programs.According to managing director Paul Wileman,“BSkill’s business along the M62 corridor now demands a local base to give the levels of service that our customers have justifiably come to expect. It is also strategically important to our goal of providing a comprehensive and reliable national training resource to our Industry.
B-Skill’s customer focused ethos requires that capacity is built up in line with demand to maintain our service levels.“We are proud that our very first customer (Northumberland Mental Health Trust) still draws on our services and most of our customers remain long-standing clients and come to depend on our reliability, thereby forming a close delivery partnership between ourselves and the Employer.” This long term sustainable view of business development is witnessed by the management team at B-Skill. Paul Clark, the adult training manager joined the Company as Assessor within a year of its starting and has grown with the Company and its values.
“Working for B-Skill is both challenging and highly rewarding,” says Paul Clark,“The standards expected are extremely high but the opportunities for personal development are fantastic, and the feedback from clients is great which makes the work very rewarding.” When turnover was barely more than £1m B-Skill employed a full time quality manager to ensure the rigor of its quality processes.More recently a senior HR post was created to ensure that the very best people could be recruited to meet expansion plans. As well as recruiting for the new Leeds Centre, the HR manager has been busy resourcing the newly created customer service advisor role.
B-Skill has the ability to deliver a comprehensive in-house package to cover virtually all the development needs of those employed within the Cleaning and Support Service industry, without the need to subcontract, thereby maintaining delivery quality. Indeed B-Skill claims to be the only cleaning industry work based learning provider to have achieved the prestigious ENTO Matrix Standard for the delivery of information advice and guidance to candidates. B-Skill staff are therefore able to identify all the training needs of learners, not just their vocational needs. Literacy and numeracy levels can be accurately assessed also and provision made where necessary.
The B-Skill service goal of excellence requires not just the best people but also the best physical resources, be that equipment, IT or premises and this is no less so in Leeds.“We are delighted with our new Leeds base at Brooklands Court,” says Paul,“The standard of accommodation is very high and being just South of Leeds Centre off the M621 it is ideally situated for the whole M62 Corridor as well as Leeds/Bradford.We expect to be fully operational there from May”.
