Skills boost due for South

Skill levels in the South could be in for a boost as training provider B-Skill hopes to emulate its Nothern success with a new South East office

Newcastle-based BSkill, specialising in quality training in the Cleaning and Support Services sector, is playing a key role in what has been dubbed the "UK skills revolution"by CBI Director General, Sir Digby Jones.

The company is now rolling out nationwide with the forthcoming opening of a South East office.

From small beginnings on South Tyneside, B-Skill has grown national capability to meet the demand for high quality, well supported training programs. The company now claims it has the widest range of direct delivered Support Service qualifications available from any single training provider, and some of the highest achievement levels in the industry, currently at 89%.

It has long been recognised that there has been a lack of appropriate funded training opportunities within the industry. Cleaning qualification levels are far lower than in any other sector and there is a real issue regarding perceptions of Cleaning and Support Services sector jobs, in terms of how they are valued. Supporting the development and delivery of tailored, structured and supportive qualifications improves recruitment and retention levels within the industry. B-Skill has the ability to deliver a comprehensive in-house package to cover virtually all the development needs of its clients, maintaining delivery quality without subcontracting.

The company's forthcoming launch of user-friendly support material for the current and new N/SVQ Level 2 in Cleaning Building Interiors, is indicative of its ability to work creatively and strategically with employers, to ensure that delivery is collaborative and successful.

B-Skill says opening a South East office will meet the growing demand for quality training in the region.South East Area Manager, Greg Jephcott, looks forward to developing B-Skill's South East business: " The job combines new development with tried and tested training applications, which are in tune with both the demands of the client and customer and government thinking on shared development responsibility," he says.
