Discover more about PAT
February 1st 2008

Research by First Stop Safety has revealed that many facilities managers are still spending a lot of money using external contractors to carry out portable appliance testing. Most seem unaware that it is not necessary to use an electrician to carry out this task.

The company has produced an easy-to-use distance learning CD that advises on all aspects of PAT. It also supplies an easy-to-use tester that simply says Pass or Fail when testing appliances such as kettles, computers and drills.

The company also organises a number of scheduled courses around the country for those who would like to have some practice with the testing. These half-day courses are practical in nature and allow plenty of time for delegates to familiarise themselves with all aspects of PAT.

First Stop Safety believes such courses allow most companies to make considerable savings when it comes to testing.
