Tough soils get rugged skincare regime January 12th 2012 A leading workplace skincare company has refreshed its popular programme dedicated to the costly burden of skin problems facing manufacturing workers.
Workers in manufacturing, automotive, construction, mining and utilities are prone to occupational dermatitis issues from harmful skin irritants, leaving their bosses exposed to compensation claims of over £100,000 and productivity losses. The HSE reports 16,000 workers claiming work-related skin problems a year.
The Skin Health Programme for Tough Soil Environments from GOJO aims to tackle this with a total regime of tough new dispensers, cleaning and skin conditioning products, site audits and staff training resources.
The range includes innovation new to Europe - ECO SOY Foaming Hand Cleaner in the new GOJO DPX foam soap dispenser. This complements the existing manufacturing range which also includes a newly upgraded PRO™ TDX dispensing system with products designed to help workers remove tough soils.
Products in our manufacturing range work, GOJO says, by maintaining the skin’s natural barrier, by using mild but effective cleansers to remove soils gently, and by using products to condition the skin. Healthy, well-conditioned skin retains more moisture and is less likely to absorb and react to harmful irritants. It also makes clean-ups faster and better.
Robust new dispensers are designed to stand up to the toughest working conditions and to appeal to the workforce in the sector, which GOJO’s European Marketing Manager Suzanne De Maine says is critical to get staff using them. “Products and dispensers on offer have to have some human factors surrounding them and be relevant to the market place. Workers need to see them as being robust enough and designed around them.”
Site audits are part of the regime, with help from GOJO to choose the right products for the right places, working with the key decision makers on site. A training programme with instructional posters and handouts is offered to encourage workers to take care of their hands.
