Waste clearance iPhone app launched
July 27th 2011

Disposing of bulky rubbish in an environmentally friendly way can now be as simple as a few taps on a mobile screen, thanks to the launch of an iPhone app for waste collections by on-demand rubbish clearance specialists AnyJunk.

AnyJunk’s new app allows users to video their junk and specify when they want it collected. The app then automatically picks up their location through the iPhone’s GPS and sends an email request to AnyJunk to quote for the clearance.

AnyJunk’s founder, Jason Mohr, who earlier this month appeared on BBC One’s The Apprentice, said that with the proliferation of smartphones, it was a logical move to provide an app that makes it easier and more efficient for customers to communicate with AnyJunk to organise a clearance: “There’s an app for just about everything nowadays, but this is the first app that gets your rubbish collected,” said Mohr.

“Whether it’s for the disposal of broken furniture or old computers, the big attraction of the app for cleaning contractors is that it’s literally a few taps and a precise quote is sent back straight away – there is no need to be chained to a desk or wait for a truck team to give an exact price onsite, as the iPhone video does all the work,” he continued.

The welcome screen offers a button to tap to video the junk to be removed; then comes a multi-choice screen for picking a convenient collection time (the more flexible the timing, the cheaper the service); the third screen requires the user to confirm the location of the rubbish (automatically taken from the phone’s GPS); and the final screen runs a check on all the information inputted, allowing for amendments, before sending an email to AnyJunk to request a quote.

AnyJunk has won awards for its customer service, use of technology, and eco-friendly disposal practices. The company operates throughout the UK, diverting from landfill almost 80 per cent of everything it collects.

“We’re dedicated to clearing up Britain in the greenest possible way, and the AnyJunk app makes it a whole lot quicker and easier for both us and our customers to achieve this aim,” concluded Mohr.

A video of the junk removal iPhone app can be viewed on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/AnyJunkVideo?gl=GB&feature=mhee#p/a/u/0/VIWbrSgOMwQ) The app can be downloaded at http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/junk-removal/id441496778?mt=8 or on AnyJunk’s website at www.anyjunk.co.uk
