Sausage machine bites back
May 28th 2010

An unidentified cleaner at DiLuigi Sausage Co. in Danvers, Massachusetts was taken to hospital on 20 May after he was partially sucked into a sausage seasoning machine reports Salem News.

The man was cleaning inside a vacuum-type cylinder that draws marinade into the meat, when it became activated. The cleaner was drawn underneath and his head and shoulders became stuck.

The man had no obvious signs of trauma said policeman Lieuftenant Carole Germano, but was taken to Beverly Hospital to be assessed for any internal injuries. Police also said that there was a language barrier and they do not know the victim's name or age. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called in to investigate.
