British Cleaning Council manifesto launched

The British Cleaning Council has launched its first ever manifesto at the Houses of Parliament. The council chairman, Steve Wright, was accompanied by Neil Turner MP, as they marked the occasion underneath the capital's landmarks in Westminster.

"I know that every MP gets bombarded by their constituents about the state of their environment with messages on how they think it needs to be improved," says Turner, the Member of Parliament for Wigan. "This manifesto aims to raise awareness among politicians about the importance of this issue in the run-up to the election, and we hope that all MPs listen to the public and give this area the attention it deserves."

The manifesto was the result of a three month consultation between members of the British Cleaning Council, where each organisation was asked to give examples of its contribution to the cleaning industry and state its expectations of the newly formed Government after this year’s vote.

"We are delighted to be able to launch our manifesto alongside an MP with Neil’s background. He has had a long and distinguished history of supporting public hygiene through Keep Britain Tidy and we believe he is the perfect candidate to help us garner support for our cause," says Wright. "It is also pleasing to finally be able to release our manifesto publicly; it is the end of a long process of consultation and collaboration between all our nineteen members. We hope that our manifesto will help us to continue to improve cleanliness, hygiene and health across Britain, and we look forward to hearing the audience response."
