New director general at UKCPI

The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) has appointed Philip Malpass as its new director general, with effect from 1 September 2009. He takes over the position from Dr Andy Williams who is retiring after eight years in the role.

Malpass previously held the post vice president – communications for the drinks giant, Constellation Europe. From 1997 – 2005 he held senior external relations positions in other alcoholic beverage sector companies including Bass, Inbev and Interbrew NV in Belgium.

Earlier experience spans a variety of senior communications positions in the pharmaceuticals and chemicals sector working for Rhone-Poulenc (Sanofi) and RTZ Chemicals (Rhodia). Malpass studied marine biology and has an MSc in environmental chemistry and was for four years a lecturer and post graduate tutor specialising in environmental toxicology.

The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) is a leading Trade Association representing UK manufacturers of cleaning, hygiene and surface care products, a sector worth an estimated GBP 3 billion.
