Taking a leak in the shower saves water
August 27th 2009

According to the Metro newspaper, new television ads in Brazil are encouraging people to save water by urinating in the shower.

SOS Mata Atlantica a Brazilian environmental group says the campaign uses humour to persuade people to reduce flushes. The group says each household can save up to 4,380 litres of water annually just by cutting out one flush a day.

The campaign is "a way to be playful about a serious subject", says Adriana Kfouri SOS spokeswoman.

The ads feature cartoon drawings of people from all walks of life, a trapeze artist, a basketball player and an alien all urinating in the shower.

The ad is voiced by children and ends: "Pee in the shower! Save the Atlantic rainforest!"
