The black bin bag goes green October 29th 2008 In today’s eco-conscious times, cleaning, janitorial and sanitation companies are increasingly looking to do more for the environment. With the introduction of its new Green Sack, recycler of waste polythene bpi.recycled products, can help them do just that. The sacks are made from 100% recycled polythene and claim a carbon footprint 35% lower than most other refuse sacks on the market.
Production from reprocessed rather than virgin material means that for every tonne of polythene used, a saving of 1.4 tonnes in CO2 is delivered. The company claims that using recycled polythene also cuts other harmful emissions by at least a third, reduces water usage by 90%, prevents landfill and saves 1.8 tonnes of crude oil.
The Green Sacks are also strong enough for their intended task. The waste material employed in their production comes from scrap farm plastics such as crop covers and retains their original strength.
bpi.recycled products says switching to Green Sacks is effortless and because of the extent to which bin bags are used in washroom environments, it has a cumulative effect. It is a small change that adds up to make a big difference.
