SCA presents four mountain bike prizes
October 29th 2008

SCA has given away four mountain bikes following a competition held at the ISSA-Interclean exhibition. UK winner Michael Flawn from Numatic International was presented with his prize at the company’s headquarters in Chard, Somerset, by SCA Tissue Europe account manager Anne Brake. Mike, a research and development specifications technician with Numatic, was one of around 800 visitors to the Tork stand at ISSA-Interclean who took part in the company’s carbon footprint game. Participants entered their home details into a computer to discover the level of CO2 emissions produced by their journey to the exhibition.

“I was pleased to win, but it was a bit of a shock because I never win anything – in fact I rarely even enter,” says Mike, who plans to give the bike to his 13-year-old son Callum. “I only took part in the competition because I wanted one of live saplings being given away to everyone who took part in the game.”

SCA was named the world’s second greenest company in June 2007 by the Independent newspaper and EIRIS. SCA has also appeared in the Innovest Global 100 most sustainable companies list for four consecutive years since the list began, and claims to consistently top the WWF tissue manufacturers’ rankings. The Tork stand at ISSA Interclean showcased the life cycle of Tork tissue using displays of trees, logs, pulp and finished products.

The other three mountain bike winners in the Tork carbon footprint game were Rui Duarte from T Nolen in Portugal; Carles Marine from Mesnet in Spain, and Rodriguez Ruben from CD Net in Belgium.
