SCA makes Sustainability Top 100... again
March 28th 2008

The Global 100 listing was introduced in 2005 – which means that SCA has featured every year since its inception. More than 30 previously-listed companies have been dropped this year including Google inc, British Airways plc and Philips Electronics. New additions include Spanish construction company Acciona and mining firm Rio Tinto.

“We are delighted to be named as one of the world’s 100 Most Sustainable Corporations once again,” said SCA’s category director John Drengler.

“Our goal is to continuously decrease the environmental impact of our products at every stage of their life cycles – from raw materials to waste. It is gratifying that our environmental policies are increasingly being recognised by external bodies.”

Last year SCA scored the highest marks in WWF’s Pulp and Paper Industry Review for its Corporate Responsibility Reporting.

In June 07 the company was named the world’s second greenest company in the Green Leaders Global Top Ten, published by the Independent newspaper in conjunction with Ethical Investment Research Services. And in 2006, SCA featured in the Vigeo Excellence Index for the paper and forestry sector.

The Global 100, initiated by Corporate Knights Inc. with Innovest as the exclusive research provider, includes companies from 16 countries in sectors ranging from Oil and Gas to Wireless Telecommunication Services.

Organisations were evaluated according to how effectively they manage environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities in comparison with industry peers.

Dr Matthew Kiernan, CEO of Innovest, says: "As global investors become increasingly concerned about economic prospects for 2008, we believe that the Global 100 will be particularly well positioned to weather the storm and deliver superior value to investors."

The annual Global 100 is unveiled each year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
