Ladder users: onwards and upwards January 28th 2008 The Ladder Association's continues its mission in 2008: to make sure anyone using ladders and stepladders to work at height has the knowledge and experience necessary to complete the relevant task safely.
Directed principally at operatives and duty holders in the building, cleaning and facilities management sectors, the drive will promote competence under the Work at Height Regulations and make clear the connection between competency and training.
Users will be directed to the Ladder Association website promoting the theme ‘Be ladder competent – get ladder trained’.
The site gives details of approved training centres throughout the UK delivering the industry standard Ladder Association training course.
Delegates learn how to select the right equipment based on risk assessment; make sure the work is properly planned and organised; use the right type and classification of ladder; ensure it’s properly maintained and in good condition; and finally set up a ladder or stepladder safely.
Full details are available on the association’s website which provides a range of best practice information with the message that if it’s right to use a ladder, use the right ladder and use it safely. See www.ladderassociation.org.uk for details.
