What have one in eight people done in a washroom?
November 27th 2007

Anyone who thought the humble washroom was simply "a place to go," could be shocked at the findings of a new survey that has revealed it has many other popular uses.

In the UK, one in five people said they had used the washroom as somewhere to escape for some peace and quiet.

Nearly half of those questioned in the UK admitted to using the washroom to change clothes. Two in every five Britons also admitted to talking on the phone from a washroom.

The survey also revealed figures for the more obvious tasks that happen in public washrooms such as nappy changing and applying make-up - in Germany 2% of men admitted using the washroom to apply make-up.

The results also revealed some more unusual activities. Nearly 4% said they had slept in a washroom, almost 3% had argued with a partner, 3% admitted having eaten in one and one in eight admitted having sex in a public washroom.
