Where've you wheelie bin? June 29th 2007 According to Sky News, Peterborough Council claims more than 2,000 wheelie bins have vanished – at a cost of £75,000 – during the past year.
One 240-litre recycling bin – clearly stamped with with city council's name – was recently spotted by an eagle-eyed holiday maker in Bulgaria, apparently being used to mix cement.
The council refuses to be beaten by the bin blight and will not take environmental crime lying down. It is now offering rewards of £75 to those who identify litter louts.
