Metsä launches massive Katrin dispenser range
February 26th 2007

Metsä Tissue says its new Katrin range packs 25 dispensers, plus new bins and accessories to cater for every washroom - from sports stadia to single cubicle. Three years in the making, Juhana Kalpio, managing director, Metsä UK, says the range is the result of extensive market research. “I would compare it to a clinical study,” he said of the 3,000 people questioned cross Europe about their washroom habits and needs.

The information gained led the development of the range. Designed for longevity, ease of use and simplicity, the products’ neutral colour should complement any washroom. Likewise, with large units for high traffic washrooms, down to small occasional use units, the company, naturally, says customers don’t need to look elsewhere. For example, a football stadium has a high frequency demand for standard products, a good restaurant should stock better paper, foam handwash and disinfectant foam, while towels in hospital washroom should be soft on the hands of nurses using them constantly.

Metsä says the range, which has six new patents, makes life easier not just for the user but also for maintenance personnel: windows make it obvious to see when paper needs refilling, ABS plastic designed cases with smooth edges and internal hinges mean cleaning is easier with fewer dirt traps while a multi-holed backplate enables swift installation.

Distributors have also been catered for with enhanced packaging and sales and marketing support. A new user-friendly website – (katrin.com) – has already generated orders without customers even seeing the products pysically, according to director of brand marketing, Markus Reivala.
