Sustainable profits February 1st 2008 Green Planet Solutions md, Matthew Anderson, looks at how going green isn’t just about saving the planet; it’s about saving you money too.
You can’t pick up a newspaper or switch on the television without finding out more about global warming and businesses from every sector are under increasing pressure to go green. However, the ‘green issue’ can put off as many people as it attracts and many companies are deterred by the idea of going green believing that it will cost them money or lead to a reduction in quality. The reality though, is that going green in terms of cleaning does not only make good business sense but can actually save you money by lowering costs and increasing efficiency.
Reductions on electricity bills, marked time savings and improved perceptions are just some examples of what a business can expect from going green; not to mention the better image amongst customers, associates and other businesses. In the washroom, energy saving equipment, chemical free products and eco-solutions that naturally break down dirt, all have their hidden benefits that help to cut costs and should be seriously considered by any business.
I know of many companies that have stopped using chemical cleaners and as a result no longer have to comply with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) legislation, saving them time, which would otherwise be spent on tedious form filling. Some have found that using microbiological cleaners mean they not only have to clean less often, they also require less products for the job.Others have implemented energy saving products that paid for themselves within one year and continue to save £thousands on water and electricity bills thereafter.
Although some businesses may not be driven to ‘save the planet’; the bottom line is that while green is good for the environment, it can also be good for your business’profit margin. www.greenplanetsolutions.co.uk More articles from Green Planet Solutions Ltd: |
