Colleges need more cleaning assessors
October 1st 2008

As the importance of effective cleaning and hygiene is finally being realised, the Government is encouraging anyone working in cleaning to complete training up to NVQ Level 2.This has led to Further Education colleges across the country experiencing a huge demand for cleaning courses.

Qualified cleaners currently working in the industry could boost their wage packets by passing on skills and knowledge.Assessors provide support and guidance to college students in their own workplace and at college, observing them as they work towards their NVQs.Their assessment, observations and evidence enables learners to gain qualifications and pursue a career in the industry.

Protocol National has a UK wide database of assessors, and provides staff to over 250 Further Education colleges across the country. Chief executive Phil Harrison says full time assessors can earn up to £50,000, and there are a whole host of flexible opportunities on offer to provide a bit of extra income.“Anyone with an existing assessing qualification – or who is willing to undertake one now – is highly sought after and can be very well paid.”
