Apprenticeship scheme in action December 1st 2011 When CK Group was
approached by business
development company South
London Business (SLB) as a result
of the government's
reinvigorated apprenticeship
scheme, Ian Pether, CK Group's
MD, agreed to take on Charlie
Porter after a number of
prospective unemployed local
youngsters were interviewed.
On his nine month placement,
Porter started in the company's
busy warehouse as an apprentice
warehouseman.He gained 'hands
on'experience and theoretical
instruction in a variety of areas,
including workplace health and
safety, stock
control, chemical
handling and
environmental
awareness.
Porter made
such good
progress that CK
group then paid for him to
attend a two day intensive fork
lift operators course as a bonus,
which he passed with 'flying
colours'.
"We are pleased to have added
further value to his training with
a skill he can use, "says Pether. More articles from City & Kent Cleaning Ltd: |
