First 'glass' fixed vacuums
December 1st 2006

Saint-Gobain Glass is keeping a special glass processing line in pristine condition with a fixed vacuum cleaning system from Nilfisk-Advance.

The bespoke solution at the glass manufacturer's Yorkshire plant is used to remove processing debris that accumulates on the coater line during the production of low emissivity (low-E) architectural flat glass.

Regular cleaning during scheduled shutdown periods keeps the line free of any waste material which could damage the machinery or affect finished product quality.

The system comprises a Nilfisk GB 1033 industrial vacuum unit, a 69 litre collection hopper and pipe manifold system. Eight inlet ports are located at strategic points along the low-E glass processing line to allow quick connection at the point of use - staff simply pick up the nearest hose and switch on.
