Dry steam chewing gum and graffiti removal December 1st 2004 Discarded pieces of chewing gum are quickly and easily removed by OspreyDeepclean equipment using only dry steam generated under pressure and applied in combination with an environmentally friendly cleaning agent, leaving behind a damp surface that dries in minutes.
The steam is injected with the detergent as it is released from the cleaning head and the gum is instantly heated by the steam to 175°C.
This combination of heat and bio-degradable detergent removes the stickiness from the gum which is simultaneously dissolved.
As well as external surfaces such as pavements, concrete and stone, the process is also suitable for internal flooring, carpets, upholstery and entrance mats.
OspreyDeepclean equipment is also suitable for graffiti removal.
Traditional methods require a chemical application and washing off with copious amounts of pressurised water. However this approach is messy, time-consuming and the area being treated must be closed off to the public.
However steam cleaning will use much smaller quantities of water and will leave only a damp surface that dries in minutes. No waste, no inconvenience to the public.
The machine can also be mounted within a van for use wherever required. As the amount of water used is so small this can also be carried on board to create a self-sufficient unit. With such convenience, both chewing gum and graffiti can be quickly and easily removed as soon as it appears, helping to ensure that repeat attacks are not encouraged.
