Stone care range launches
January 1st 2006 JohnsonDiversey Advantage is the collective term for the launch of JohnsonDiversey's new Building Care portfolio. A harmonisation of the company's inherited Johnson Wax Professional and DiverseyLever ranges.
The first of the six ranges, Jontec, can be broken down into Floor Care and Stone Care Brands. The latter, Stone Care, is available from 1 January 2006
One tends to think of the 'home of marble and stone' being Italy, Greece, Portugal and so on, but in recent years, the UK has seen a 'back to organics' surge in architects, designers and retailers seeking a more natural aesthetic feel for buildings.
Marble and stone floors are far more hard-wearing, long-lasting and appealing to the eye than carpets and plastic floors. Their benefits have long been recognised in Europe and further a field as being better suited to extreme fluctuations in temperature, as well as being more hygienic, lending themselves to wall-to-wall ease of cleaning.
From hotel lobby entrance areas where important first impressions are made, and image is key, to restaurant floors where grime and food deposits reflect negatively to clientele and represent poor levels of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene are critical to business success.
Red wine spilled in a supermarket aisle for example will, in a matter of hours, impregnate to such a degree that staining occurs. Naturally, The Jontec Stone Care range includes a highly effective two-stage stain removal system for this eventuality. But the simple 1,2 3 Stone Care system, consisting of 1: Preparation, 2: Protection, 3: Cleaning & Maintenance goes that little bit further by providing, for example, a sealant so that the offending soil sits on the surface, preventing it from penetrating the floor in the first place.
Breaking down the Jontec Stone Care products into the 3 categories mentioned:
Step 1. Preparation (deep cleaning & stain removal): Jontec Clearout L is a two-component system designed to deep clean and remove stains from any porous natural stone, grout or ceramic. The formulation is particularly effective on organic stains, versatile for wide area application and treatment, and provides enhanced performance when used in conjunction with the powder poultice (Clearout P - see below). Old floors can be improved to 'new', it can be used in scrubber driers, mop or single disc machines and has the power to remove old stains where other solutions fail.
Jontec Clearout P is an absorbent non-acidic powder designed to draw deep stains from stone and ceramic surfaces. Used in conjunction with appropriate JohnsonDiversey products, Jontec Clearout will remove most stains.
Step 2: Protection: Jontec Prevento and Jontec Repello have been specifically designed to protect precious stone flooring without altering its appearance.
Jontec Prevento is a solvent-based penetrating sealer for uncoated porous natural stone and ceramic surfaces; both indoors and outdoors, which respects the appearance and colours of stone, no matter what the location. Applied outdoors it will not freeze, making it ideal for the colder months. Prevento extends intervals of periodic maintenance and is resistant to moisture and stains, while allowing vapour to escape.
Jontec Repello is a water-based penetrating sealer for the same floor types and areas as Prevento, which effectively creates a dirt-repellent protection on the floor to facilitate cleaning.
Quick to apply and neutral in odour it is excellent against mineral oil and greasy soil, and its invisible, water-based formulation will not alter floor appearance.
Jontec Plaza is a premium high gloss emulsion, specially designed to coat stone, terrazzo, unglazed ceramic floors and marble. It delivers adhesion on most stone types meaning no additional sealer is required. Plaza can be applied as onecoat to fill the pores and ease cleaning, or as multi-coat application for additional gloss and appearance. It is particularly resistant against scuff and black heel marks and does not yellow under UVlight.
Jontec Terrastar is a high-gloss crystallizer for the protection of marble floors. It increases the contour acuity and intensifies the natural appearance of stone, quickly achieving a mirror-like shine thanks to a combined chemical and mechanical action. Terrastar reduces water and dirt penetrability to help facilitate daily cleaning and maintenance and, at a time when there is increasing focus on incidence of trip/fall, significantly improves slip-resistance.
Jontec Terranova is a spray-crystalliser for the maintenance of calcareous stone floors (and would normally be used with an oil-free steel wood pad and single disc floor cleaning machine). It provides a high gloss on marble and other calcareous stones without building a film on top. Crystallising marble floors improves their wear-resistance and reduces the acid sensitivity. Jontec Terranova can be used to recrystallise traffic areas of previously treated floors and, like Terrastar, provides good slip-resistance.
Step 3: Cleaning and Maintenance: Jontec Ceramica is a neutral, solvent-based cleaner, specifically designed for the cleaning of unprotected high gloss ceramics floors such as glazed porcelain, tiles, polished marble or granite. The product has been formulated not to leave any streaks or residues on the floor while keeping the original shine and ensuring excellent cleaning capability. Its pH-neutral, fresh fragrance, fast-drying formulation is ideal for high gloss ceramic tiles, leaving the surface entirely free of streaks and marks.
