A sweeper that is seen but not heard May 1st 2005 The new IPC 464 sweeper provides a new concept in carpet cleaning. With a cleaning width of 63cm, a waste bin capacity of 30 litres and powered by a 12 volt battery, this sweeper gives both productivity and flexibility with a noise level of only 52 dB.
Large carpet areas can now be cleaned much quicker and quieter with the 464 sweeper. Skirting board edges are cleaned by the side brush into the path of the main broom which beats into the carpet pile extracting grit and dust which is then collected in to the rear hopper bin. A 60 watt motor vacuum fan ensures all dust is filtered in to the rear bin via a 1m2 panel filter.Operated by a 12 volt battery the 464 is free from trailing cables and obtains an operating autonomy of 3 hours. To re-charge the battery the 464 comes complete with built-in charger enabling the operator to charge from any 13 amp socket. Carpet sweeping has already become a popular and more productive means of cleaning carpets in the USA and Japan.
With the UK having a great tradition and proportion of carpeted areas, in hotels, conference centres, exhibition halls, dining halls, bars and restaurants, and in particular high street department stores, the 464 should quickly establish itself as a rival to the traditional vacuum.
IP Cleaning has developed a piece of software the enables the potential purchaser to ascertain what method of cleaning could offer the best productivity in the long-run. Although the 464 may cost a little more in terms of capital expenditure, the high productivity (shown in the graph) means that the return on investment occurs quickly and is often between 6 months and a year for a typical application. After this the savings continue to mount up.The cost of equipment on a 3 year contract is not a major expense compared with labour costs and if these can be reduced large savings are there to be made.
