Trusting in microfibre
December 1st 2008

Healthguard, Ecolab's Microfibre System, has recently been chosen by the East Lancashire Hospital Trust, which covers a population of 520,000 across East Lancashire.

The Trust was looking for a solution to improve cleaning performance and make it easier to eliminate and prevent hospital associated infections.

Trials of a range of microfibre systems were undertaken and hospital staff evaluated them.

The Ecolab Healthguard Microfibre system was chosen for ease of use, cost effectiveness, aesthetics, reduction in chemical use, infection control and laundering.

"We are certain that the use of the system will support further reduction of Hospital Associated Infections including MRSA and cdifficile," says a spokesman from the Trust.

"With the Microfibre cleaning system, evidence shows bacterial removal of over 99%," says Nick Burchell, marketing manager, Ecolab."One stop mopping allows wards to be damp dusted, washed and dried in one process, giving productivity savings of up to 45%. Ecolab Healthguard specialists ensure ward staff are fully trained." Ecolab Rasantec Star Microfibre Mops provide onestep, no-rinse mopping. The company says they are 50% lighter than traditional mops and pre-impregnated with neutral detergent. The cleaning trolley is modular so accessories can be added easily.
