Alcohol rubs raise questions June 1st 2011 According to Teal Handwash,
research shows alcohol rubs are
only of use on already-clean
hands and also fail to kill the
majority of contaminants
including the clostridium difficile
of norovirus.
Alcohol gels and foams rapidly
decontaminate clean hands if
they are used correctly.However,
the alcohol content of the hand
rub must be at least 60% to be
effective.
Teal recommends hand
washing with warm water and
liquid soap, using a recognised
technique, will remove transient
organisms.
