Hako Machines is working with Carillion Health to provide high
quality cleaning at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxfordshire.New
machines have been installed in the two new private finance
initiative buildings on the hospital site, joining the fleet that has
already been in place for the past year.
Carillion Health has been working with John Radcliffe Hospital for
the past three years and is responsible for cleaning all areas of the
hospital excluding the operating theatres, although Hako has begun
supplying machines into one of the operating units. With 133,000m2
to clean, Carillion has a team of 270 staff employed to clean John
Radcliffe that are all fully trained to adhere to the strict guidelines of
the premises and even carries out spot checks and constant audits to
ensure the highest standards are maintained.
The John Radcliffe Hospital is Oxfordshire's main accident and
emergency site. It provides acute medical and surgical services,
trauma, intensive care, cardiac services,women's
services and a new Children's Hospital as well as
housing many departments of Oxford University
Medical School. Since January 2007, services
previously at the Radcliffe Infirmary, including
specialist surgery and neurosciences, are now
housed in the new West Wing on the John Radcliffe
site.
"We chose to work with Hako as its machines are
functional, reliable and easy for our operatives to
use," says Alan Boughtflower, domestic services
manager for Carillion Health."More importantly
though, Hako's commitment to the environment
means that as well as being sustainable, the
machines are also more efficient in reducing air particles and the use
of water and chemicals.
"The environmental benefits coupled with the operative
advantages such as battery operated machines with on board
chargers, compact machines that are easy to store, scrubber dryers
that clean and dry the floor quickly, and even how quiet the
machines are, all supported our buying decision.Obviously service
played its part as well with the round the clock support from Hako's
engineers for parts or repairs reducing the machine downtime and
impact on the cleaning staff."
There are currently around twelve Hako machines in use at John
Radcliffe Hospital including a range of pedestrian scrubber dryers,
and manual and battery operated sweepers.
