It's company duty to care
April 1st 2008

From April 2008, companies may be prosecuted for Corporate Manslaughter if it can be proved that negligence in their duty of care obligations caused a death.

NavmanWireless's Duty of Care Module compels drivers to carry out a vehicle check in line with their company's health and safety policy, every day, before they start work. The driver must then confirm, before they can drive the vehicle for business use, if "no vehicle faults were found" or if "vehicle faults were found and reported to company management". When the procedure has been carried out, the in-cab unit is enabled for use.

Further duty of care functions of the Navman Wireless system include full Working Time Directive compliance facilities – providing reports of driver working hours and sending email alerts when rest breaks aren't taken, Driver ID technology and integrated panic buttons to help protect drivers transporting high-value goods.
