Is there a certified future for green cleaning?
December 1st 2008

Matthew Anderson, MD of Green Planet Solutions (GPS), says as companies are realising the need to adopt greener cleaning regimes, the need for guarantees that products and services back up their claims is more important than ever.

Simply containing a few organic ingredients or being packaged in a bottle that can be recycled does not mean a product is eco-friendly.

A wider view of the whole lifecycle of a product needs to be taken into consideration if we are to source products that are truly sustainable.A comprehensive accreditation scheme is vital for those that want to ensure they are doing all they can to help protect the environment.

In the future, all products on the cleaning market may need to be accredited by one independent environmental body. GPS believes that currently the most comprehensive accreditation for the sector is the European Eco-label; it offers the most information and strongest guarantees for the products that carry its logo, but in the future, as more issues come to light will we need something even more inclusive?
