Greener, leaner washrooms February 1st 2008 A year on from entering the market as an environmentally-sound washroom supplier,
Green Planet Solutions is tying up deals with some of the sectors largest companies.
The firm says it's a sign of the times, as the industry shifts towards sustainability
Green Planet Solutions was set up in early 2007 by Matt
Anderson and Kelly Obertelli to address the need for more
sustainable and efficient washrooms. One year on and the
business has been hugely successful, acquiring several high profile
accounts in partnership with some of the UK's leading cleaning
contractors and forming relationships with a number of recognised
distributors such as Bunzl,The Wandsworth Group, Shorrock Trichem
and Indigo Washrooms Solutions to name a few.
As well as establishing Green Planet Solutions within the sector,
these distribution channels have quickly positioned the company as a
vehicle for green manufacturers to bring products to market.
Anderson and Obertelli are keen to speak
with innovators developing products to
improve the environmental performance of
washrooms and are currently testing three
new products to add to the GPS portfolio.
One of the new products that has been
added to the company's impressive portfolio
during the last year is the eco-cube, a natural
water saving (and therefore money saving)
urinal cleaning system, which is exclusively
managed by the company. GPS will now help
to set up national distribution channels with
like minded companies.
Attitude adjuster
Eco Works produces the eco-cube system.
Chip Rimmer, sales and marketing director of
the eco-cube, believes that the partnership with
Green Planet Solutions has been key to the success of
the eco-cube and its implementation in the washrooms of
many large corporates.
"We chose to give Green Planet Solutions exclusivity over the ecocube
because of its strong distribution channels and expert market
knowledge. It was also extremely refreshing to be working with a
company with the same vision and
philosophy as us; it's good to know that
Green Planet Solutions is working to
change the negative attitudes and
perceptions that may companies have of
eco-friendly cleaning."
Green cleaning = cost savings
The Manchester Arndale Centre is one
major shopping centre improving its
environmental credentials – and saving
money – by using GPS products.Mike
Smith Head of Building Services at the
centre was particularly impressed by the
savings that can be expected.
'"The various products that we have
introduced into our washrooms have already started to pay for
themselves and will soon be saving the centre £thousands in water
rates and electricity," says Smith."We have even noticed a huge
difference in the smell, especially the gents; going green has definitely
had a huge impact on our washroom perception."
Big names in business
Green Planet Solutions won several high profile contracts with a
number of distributors in 2007, including a successful deal with
Shorrock Trichem.Caron Darlington, director of washroom services for
Shorrock Trichem, believes that at a time when companies are
increasingly assessing their washrooms, the need for genuinely
beneficial new products is paramount: "Green Planet Solutions might
be a young company but it is very forward thinking in bringing
innovative new products to the market."
Bunzl is also quick to endorse the company. "We were
immediately impressed with the drive and ambition of the Green
Planet Solutions team and its alignment with many of the Bunzl
Groups' own 'green' ambitions," says Eric Wright,
purchasing manager for Bunzl
Cleaning & Hygiene Supplies."It
was therefore a very easy
decision to negotiate an
exclusive deal with GPS for
the distribution of its
ecologically friendly
cleaning products."
Finally, as this article went
to press, GPS announced it
has been named
Interserve's joint Supply
Partner of the Year, and will
collect the award at a ceremony at
the end of February.

MacLellan: "Excellent support"
Charged with co-ordinating the cleaning purchases for a variety
of large establishments in the UK, Clare Raybould, Procurement
Co-ordinator for companies within the MacLellan portfolio, is
constantly on the lookout for new ways to improve efficiency
and perception. While company efficiency and cutting costs are
some of Raybould's principle aims, addressing and raising
awareness of environmental impact is also high on her list of
priorities.Which, she says, is what drew her to Green Planet
Solutions.
"The company was not only forthcoming in making
innovative changes but also gave excellent support to
implement them. A lot of companies promise to make a
difference and then fail to follow up with any action; I didn't find
this with Green Planet Solutions." More articles from Green Planet Solutions Ltd: |
