Environmental Tork of the North
June 1st 2008

Tork tissue manufacturer SCA Tissue Europe's Prudhoe Mill in Northumberland won the prestigious Environmental Management Award in the annual North East Business Awards, beating off competition from organiations including the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.

Prudhoe Mill reduced its water consumption, emissions to water and the amount of waste sent for landfill in 2007.Other recent environmental measures have included the installation of more energy-efficient boilers and the introduction of recycling schemes for plastic and wood waste.

"The mill should be very proud of their achievements," says SCA's environmental manager Stewart Begg.
