Calculating firm savings December 1st 2008 After bagging the British Institute
of Facilities Management's new
Product Innovation award for its
water-saving WC device, Flush-
Wiser, PHS Washrooms
marketing manager Andrew
Johnston, says more private
sector firms could benefit from its
properties.
"The public sector take-up has
been strong, but, given that the
majority of water used in office
buildings is in the washroom, the
private sector could be more
proactive."
From a cost perspective, he
claims the low-cost device sells
itself "but it's an ongoing
education process".To help put
prospective clients in the picture,
the firm has developed an online
water and energy saving
calculator (see
www.phswaterandenergysavings.
co.uk) that enables facilities
managers to see just how much
water and money the device can
save.The calculator also
demonstrates water savings for
PHS' Adapta taps and urinal
controls and energy savings
enabled by its low-energy
Airforce hand dryer. All
calculations take rental/servicing
costs into account.
However, for smaller UK
businesses and domestic
consumers, a retail/DIY
distribution agreement with
Salamander will enable firms to
purchase and fit the WRASapproved
Flush-Wiser
themselves.
With the recent acquisition of
Spain's second largest washroom
services firm, Serkonten, PHS now
hopes to export its technology to
Europe. More articles from PHS Group plc: |
