European Ecolabel status achieved
June 1st 2011

Kimberly-Clark Professional has earned European Ecolabel status for 60 towel and tissue products, including Scott and Kleenex branded lines, and two of its Kleenex hand cleansers.

To achieve Ecolabel status, Kimberly-Clark had to show how it had: Eliminated chlorine bleach from its manufacturing processes Caused less than 40kg of organic water pollution per tonne of tissue produced Generated less than 3,750kg of CO2 from fossil fuels per tonne of tissue produced Consumed less than 3,000 kWh of electricity per tonne of tissue produced.

To enhance the environmental credentials of the Kleenex soaps, the company reformulated them so that they now contain a preservative system in line with the ecological criteria defined under the Ecolabel scheme.

Besides the new formulations, both soaps also contain no added dyes or fragrances. The products were previously sold under the Kimcare brand.
