Vacuums receive allergy award
October 1st 2011

The Nilfisk Group has been awarded the ECARF seal of quality for allergy prevention.

The Extreme and Power ranges are fitted with class 13 and 14 HEPA filters (high efficiency particulate air filter). European filter classes range from 1 to 17, the rating equating to the degree of filter efficiency when used within an appliance.

Certified HEPA vacuums eliminate allergy causing pollutants such as dust mite eggs, pollen, bacteria, smoke and fine dust particles.

Bacteria coming into the HEPA filter will dry out and die as there is nothing within the filter to facilitate growth.

Vacuum design is also critical for correct HEPA filtration performance. The unit must be of HEPA tight construction meaning that the filter is positioned after the motor to ensure that the exhaust fan is releasing clean air.

The HEPA filter component also needs to be completely sealed so that contaminant air cannot be released into the environment.
