New sweepers tackle hard and soft floors
August 1st 2005

Five new Floortec sweepers from Nilfisk-ALTO – two walk-behind and three ride-on machines – provide efficient solutions to a wide range of industrial and commercial cleaning needs. The machines are equally at home on hard surfaces and carpeted floors, making them suited for indoor or outdoor sweeping duties in large and small applications such as service stations, car parks, playgrounds, factories, warehouses, shopping malls, sports centres, offices, hotels and conference halls.

Stewart Dennett, Nilfisk-ALTO UK, sales and marketing director says: “These machines combine efficient, dust-free sweeping with ease of operation and maintenance.

Complementing Nilfisk-ALTO’s multi-technology product programme, they give end users and cleaning contractors the best machines for a broad spread of operating conditions.” The handy walk-behind sweepers, Floortec 550 and Floortec 560 are compact and easy to operate, covering large areas but also allowing access to corners and narrow spaces. The hopper in each of these machines is wheeled for easy emptying. With a 700rnm sweeping width, the Floortec 550 can cover up to 2800m2/h. The Floortec 560 has a sweeping width of 820mm, enabling it to cover up to 3200m2/h.

Floortec R360 is a compact rideon machine, highly manoeuvrable and with good ramp-climbing. The powerful vacuum motor and 3m2 paper or polyester filter permit continuous and dust-free sweeping at up to 5.5km/h in bands of I000m.

The Floortec R360 ride-on sweeper uses an overthrow sweeping system, with the 600mm main broom throwing debris into the 50 litre hopper, filling it from above to maximise use of space. Two side brooms are standard – and all three brooms can be changed to suit different floor conditions. The driving seat is adjustable to ensure operator comfort. There is an automatic power shutoff when the operator leaves the driving seat. The seat switch, emergency stop and parking brake make this a particularly safe machine. For additional safety the machine can be fitted with a reversing alarm and a flashing light.

The Floortec R570 sweeps 900mm with one side broom (1100mm with two side brooms) and its 700mm main broom. It has a 70 litre hopper and a 5m2 filter, with electric shaker cleaning system. Paper or polyester filters are available.

The more powerful, high-capacity Floortec R580 has a 1050mm working width with its 900mm main broom and one side broom (or 1310mm with two side brooms), a 7m2 filter and a 130 litre hopper, enabling it to cover large areas. For easy emptying, it has a hydraulic variable lift mechanism which empties the hopper into containers up to 15m high. Designed for tough working conditions all year round, Floortec R580 climbs ramps up to 20%.

All five machines are robustly built for long service and are available in petrol and battery powered variants.

Battery models have external or integrated on-board chargers. Filters and brooms can be changed or adjusted easily without tools.
