Soft to hard in under a minute
August 1st 2008

Nilfisk-Advance's carpet extractor-come-scrubber dryer won an innovation award at Interclean earlier this year.Switching from one task to the other in under a minute means hard and soft floors can be cleaned with one machine – saving time and money

In addition to multi-purpose cleaning, the AX 651 Multi features Nilfisk's advanced EDS system, which dispenses the correct amount of detergent directly to the scrub deck, reducing chemical and water consumption, and optimising cleaning results. Also, the carpet extractor is fitted with Nilfisk's LIFTTM (Low moisture, Indirect spray, Fast drying time,True cleaning) – a patented low moisture extraction process combining deep cleaning with ultra fast drying times. As a result, the AX 651 Multi EDS has been awarded CRI (Carpet and Rug Institute) approval in the US.

"I believe no other manufacturer is currently able to make this claim with a low moisture process," says Karen James, sales and marketing director at Nilfisk-Advance."Drying time with LIFTTM is around 30 minutes and you can deep clean over 1,300m2 of carpet with just one 75 litre tank of water." Ease of use is another key design feature of the new AX 651 Multi EDS. Operatives can switch between carpet extractor and cylindrical scrubbing modes while they work using simple touchscreen controls. At the push of a button they can also adjust scrubbing brush pressure to suit soiling levels, or choose between pre-spray, low moisture or restoration modes for daily or deep cleaning of carpeted areas. To restore heavily soiled areas, pre-spray detergent is applied and agitated into the surface, followed by extraction with clean water, for a deep clean treatment. In scrubber/dryer mode, it offers 100 per cent water pick-up to leave hard surfaces spotless and safe to walk on.

With low noise levels of just 66 dB(A) during scrubbing and 69 dB(A) whilst extracting, the AX 651 multi EDS from Nilfisk-Advance is particularly suitable for daytime cleaning, even in noise-sensitive environments.Other convenient features include an onboard battery charger and easy to clean recovery tank.

Summing up, Karen James says:"The ISSA/INTERCLEAN Award recognises Nilfisk's ongoing investment in innovation to make cleaning faster, easier and more cost-effective for our customers. Our machinery developments are designed to drive down the cost of professional cleaning, without compromising quality, which has always been an important goal for this sector but is now even more critical in the current economic climate."
