Hako Machines provides flawless floorcare to the shopping centre market with new machines being used at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield

The Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield is pne of the UK's top leisure destinations, attracting over 25 million visitors each year. Hako says it's not just its machines that secured the relationship with Meadowhall, but the synergy between the two companies when it comes to the environment.

The environment is high on Meadowhall's agenda. It has won numerous awards for its environmental initiatives. It also holds the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard and British Safety Council 5 Star Environment Audit accreditations. Equally Hako claims to be the only European cleaning machine manufacturer to gain the EMAS accreditation – the increasingly influential Environmental Management and Audit Scheme – because of the methods it uses in the design and production of its machines.

"As a responsible organisation we are always reviewing our impact on the environment and welcome new more efficient ways of working," says David Noakes, cleaning manager at Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

The machines selected by Meadowhall have additional energy and water saving benefits as well as being designed and manufactured with fewer components – most of which are recyclable. The combination of machines includes the new B45 and B90 pedestrian scrubber dryers and the B910 ride on scrubber dryer with a pre-sweeping function for an all-in-one cleaning solution. The machines allow maximum cleaning efficiency for Meadowhall and offer the solution for cleaning the 1,505,000ft2 site – from the more restricted areas – to the larger areas of the mall.

The machines have a made-to-measure dosage and filling system.

Speed dependent control of water and the Hako Aqua Control system, ensure accurate dosage and preventing wastage, saving up to 50% of water and detergent when cleaning surfaces. The built-in memory allows the operational values to be activated at the touch of a single button.Water is retained in the perimeter of the brushes, reducing the dosage even further, as well as reducing the need for filling and increasing the performance area.
