Machines go multi-task
December 1st 2009

Performance, cost and ergonomics are the three most important factors when making purchase decisions, says Gordon McVean of Truvox. But with so many different types of scrubber dryers on the market, making an informed choice can be problematic

Some machines can accomplish virtually any cleaning task on any surface in a single pass.

Versatile products such as these are more cost efficient and space-saving than purchasing separate machines for each job.Operations managers may consider purchasing a multi-use machine that performs more than one cleaning task.

The Multiwash from Truvox – an all-in-one floor cleaning machine – provides a cost effective and practical answer to flooring needs. It gives 'outstanding results' on most types of hard floor covering including wood, vinyl, studded rubber, linoleum, marble, granite, stone, quarry tiles, profiled ceramic floors and non-slip safety floors. It can also be used on soft floor coverings including woven and non-woven shortpile carpet, carpet tiles, and can even be used on travelators, escalators or entrance matting. It is also suitable for situations where budget limitations or lack of storage space prohibits the use of a number of single-task specialist floor cleaning machines.

The Multiwash is suitable for a wide range of locations including hospitals, hotels, health centres, leisure centres, restaurants, laboratories, schools and colleges, offices, airports, stations, shopping centres, cinemas and theatres.

Scrubs up nicely The Multiwash uses two 650rpm contra-rotating brushes to wash, mop and scrub floor surfaces lifting dirt, water or grime quickly and effectively, and then dries the floor – all in a single pass – leaving it ready to walk on in minutes. The single pass function increases productivity by eliminating the need to go back and forth to cover any unwashed areas.Added to this, the Multiwash helps to minimise operation costs due to its frugal use of water and cleaning chemicals.

The Multiwash is available in four different versions, the super-compact 240, 340, 340 Pump and Tank and the latest 440 Pump model. The range of multi-purpose cleaning machines can clean a wide array of hard and soft flooring surfaces with the performance necessary to meet the high standards of cleanliness required in healthcare establishments.

Keep it compact While the whole Multiwash range is suited for wall-to-wall cleaning into tight corners and under shelves or cupboards, the super compact proportions and 24cm cleaning width of the Multiwash 240 is particularly effective for more tightly confined areas or cleaning under furnishings.

The original model, Multiwash 340 is suitable for cleaning medium-sized areas. In larger areas, by minimising the requirement for refilling, the productivity of an operator can be substantially boosted. The Multiwash 340 Pump and Tank model has been built around this principle. Featuring a pump and additional tank, solution capacity is increased from the standard 1.7 to 4l. The enlarged tank also ensures improved distribution of the cleaning water, pumped at higher pressure, on harder-to-clean surfaces such as shortpile carpets and non-slip safety floors.

Truvox says even greater performance can be achieved with the Multiwash 440 Pump, the latest addition to the Multiwash range. With a wider cleaning path of 44cm the Multiwash 440 cleans even faster without any comprise in performance. It claims to provide productivity gains of 30% or more.

The Multiwash range's single pass cleaning allows users to complete jobs more quickly. The machines are also extremely easy to use, enabling effortless manoeuvrability without heavy pushing, pulling or lifting. In addition, their quiet operation minimises disturbance during daytime cleaning.

A single machine can be made even more versatile by the use of accessories. Hard, standard and soft brushes are available for intensive scrubbing, normal maintenance or smooth glazed floors, and side brushes are available for cleaning right into corners.

Specialist escalator brushes are also an option. A purpose-built trolley makes it even easier to transport the machine.
