Treading safely in steelworks plant

Corus Tewkesbury steelprocessing works is one of the latest industrial plants to install large areas of Flexigrid high performance slip resistant matting. Fluid was seeping from cold rolling lines onto the floor, according to Tony Huntbach who is in charge of health and safety, thereby creating a potential hazard.

Using Flexigrid, a safe and slip resistant walkway has now been created.The matting is also comfortable to walk on and relieves fatigue.

Plastic Extruders says its Flexigrid is widely used in heavy industrial environments where dirt, production waste, oil and other spillages can create problems.

The matting is hard wearing, resistant to oils, chemicals and industrial fluids. It has a deep etched surface with open grid through which debris and spillages are dissipated. Because of its toughness, it is also often used as a primary barrier for cleaning footwear at the works entrance.

It will contour over uneven or rough surfaces and Plastic Extruders says it can be cut and shaped easily to fit around machines and irregular areas.
