Giving debris the brush off

Forest Garden is now making a clean sweep through sawdust and debris at its sawmill and manufacturing facility thanks to Broadwood's SweepEx push broom

The heavy duty brush is coupled to the site's forklift truck using a specially designed hitch. Sweeping of the five-acre yard is now carried out in less than half an hour.

The steady flow of product through the yard results in sawdust and debris that has to be swept up to meet health & safety requirements and to ensure that particles are not blown into the surrounding areas.

Prior to the purchase of Broadwood's SweepEx, the site used a different type of brush attachment, which was cumbersome to attach to the forklift and the sweeping action was mediocre.

"Broadwood's SweepEx is quickly and easily attached to the forklift," says Dennis Carr, yard supervisor at Forest Garden's Lockerbie site. "It provides an excellent sweeping action both forward and backward. We are so impressed with the SweepEx that we are considering purchasing another unit".

SweepEx is suitable for applications such as clearing dirt, material spills and heavy debris. Very hardwearing, SweepEx heads and mounting hardware are manufactured from industrial strength steel, with a heavy-duty powder coat finish.

The replaceable hi-grade polypropylene brush section has eleven rows of 30cm bristles for effective sweeping. Robust, the brushes will provide around 450 miles of sweeping before they need changing.

Environmentally friendly, SweepEx generates minimal dust, protecting the operator, machinery and the environment. Nearby pedestrians, animals and vehicles are safe when the SweepEx is being used as no flying debris is thrown around during operation.The SweepEx can complete a sweeping task in three minutes that would normally take three hours to be accomplished manually.
