Diamond is a hard floors best friend
April 1st 2004

Wetrok has developed a polishing system, which gives an outstanding finish in more ways the one. As well as the look, Diamond Polishing increases slip resistance and promotes all round safer floors. In addition, cleaning consumables like scrubbing pads last longer, so maintenance costs are reduced. The system is simple to use, environmentally friendly and fits well within an existing floor cleaning budget.

City Facilities Management UK handles the contract for retailing giant Asda and is now using Wetrok Diamond floor system at its 130 stores throughout the UK. Norman Wilcock, the companys cleaning support services manager, said that the system was introduced to restore Asdas terrazzo flooring: Where traditional grinding methods are labour-intensive and messy, this is easy to use because the Diamond pads simply fit onto the drive plate of a scrubber drier and the floor is cleaned as normal, therefore staff need only minimal training in how to use the system. He adds: The results are definitely impressive and the terrazzo is restored to as new .

Wetrok have increased safety too: They took slip resistance readings both before and after polishing and found results which were above the set guidelines so thats another definite plus for the Diamond system.

Staff at Asda have also voiced their approval of the system, saying it gave the store a whole new look, with floors that look clean and shiny.

Known as honing, the Diamond polishing system polishes the floor to such a smooth reflective finish, ordinary cleaning becomes easier because there are no deep dirty pores in the surface. Colin Wright, sales director at Wetrok, says seeing is believing: Once people see what can be done with the Diamond system, they never look back.

At Stonyhurst College, a beautiful 400 year old building in Lancashire, the Domestic Burstar Francis Aheme was equally pleased with Wetroks Diamond system: There are 600 boys and girls here and many of them wear black soled shoes which can mark the floor quite badly but because the building is Grade 1 listed we are limited in what treatments we can use, for instance, were not allowed to seal the tiles. When Wetrok came in to show us what the Diamond system could do, we were so impressed that we asked them to restore some of our older terrazzo floors in the heavy traffic areas. She adds: The results were really impressive, giving the tiles a glowing, natural finish and daily cleaning is definitely easier. Now we use Wetrok products for the on going maintenance too.
