Ozone assisted cleaning August 1st 2005 Ozone assisted cleaning representss a technological breakthrough for CFR. The design and benefits of the CFR Recycling Cleaning System, available from Amtech UK have been combined with the advantages and benefits of Ozone
THE CFR O-Z CARE SYTEM creates ozone by exposing oxygen in the atmosphere to ultraviolet (UV) light of a specific wavelength.
When oxygen in the air comes in contact with the UV light is brings the oxygen molecules (O2) together to form ozone (O3). The CFR O-Z injects the ozone into the solution tank. Ozone is very soluble in water. When the ozone is introduced, it disperses and mixes with the cleaning solution. The CFR ‘closed system’ design effectively oxidizes the cleaning solution, and the air above it.
Because of this closed system, only CFR can safely and effectively use ozone in the cleaning process.
What will ozone do? RESIDUAL FREE BIOCIDE – Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent which reacts rapidly with most organic materials including microorganisms.
It has been widely used in treatment of drinking water supplies, treatment of waste waters, and for a large number of industrial and commercial applications where destruction of organic matter and microorganisms is the key to the desired end result.
Ozone is a stronger oxidant than chlorine and reacts much more quickly with organic materials, its efficacy as a disinfectant is well documented. In ozone demand-free environments, ozone can be up to 2500 times more effective than chlorine against enterobacteria, viruses, spores and amoebic cysts. Ozone has proven to be effective wherever removal of organic contaminants is important.
CLEANING BOOSTER – Oxidants have been used extensively in industrial and institutional cleaning. Hypochlorites and peroxides have been used as cleaning aids or cleaning ‘boosters’ based upon their oxidizing characteristics. However, peroxides are not as effective as chlorine, and chlorines has the additional disadvantage that it leaves chlorinated residuals wherever it is used. Ozone, on the other hand, is even more effective than chlorine as an oxidant and cleaning booster.
And ozone itself leaves no residuals other than oxygen. Ozone when used with other cleaning ingredients that do not have an ozone demand (that is they do not react with ozone) provides a system with superior cleaning capabilities. Only small amounts of ozone are required in contract to chlorine and other oxidants.
PURIFY THE AIR – The O-Z care System also uses ozone to clean the air above the cleaning solution in the tank. Before being exhausted, that air is passed over activated carbon to collect residual ozone and catalytically convert it back to oxygen. The carbon also collects any volatile organics.
Studies have shown that many carpet extractors lift micro-contaminants from the carpet and disperse them into the air. The oxidation and filtration process of the O-Z Care System greatly reduces surface to air cross-contamination.
REMOVES VOCs – Ozonated water works as a very powerful and effective cleaning solution. It is also is very effective at removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which are significant allergens. Ozone will also remove the chemicals and compounds associated with the manufacture and installation of carpeting and upholstery. Cleaning with ozone greatly reduces the level of allergens which occur in new carpeting.
ODOR CONTROL – Cleaning with ozone greatly improves indoor air quality by reducing odors which originate on the surfaces which are cleaned. Ozone attacks and eliminates the source of the odors. Residual action of ozone and the very short dry times associated with our continuous flow cleaning technology truly eliminate odors, not just mask them. |
