Not just for appearances
August 1st 2004

When it comes to carpets, looking good doesnt always mean that the carpet is actually clean. When cleaning commercial carpets, choosing the right machine and method is essential. Take the example from across the Atlantic of Don Eldred, founder of Cambridge Carpet Cleaning, a carpet and upholstery cleaning business in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, who has seven million square feet of commercial and residential carpet to clean each year. Eldred chose Truvoxs Cimex CR48 for its ability to deep clean commercial carpets and upholstery. For me effective maintenance means keeping carpets continuously clean, Eldred said. Theres a big difference between giving carpets a clean appearance and actually cleansing deep into the fibres. Carpets that are deep cleaned in this manner will last twice as long as those cleaned only when visibly soiled. With more than 35 years in the carpet cleaning business, Eldred chose the Cimex for its ability to handle both routine carpet cleaning and deep cleaning. A three-brush floorcare machine that operates at 400 RPM, the Cimex CR48 is suited to extracting deeply embedded dirt from between carpet fibres. Designed for routine, multi-purpose floor cleaning in commercial, residential and industrial environments, the Cimex machine not only shampoos carpets and rugs, but also scrubs and polishes hard surface, vinyl and ceramic floors. With the introduction of polymer encapsulation detergents, Eldred also needed a scrubber that would adequately apply and agitate carpet fibres with the new detergent. The Cimex scrubber provided the solution. An increasingly recommended solution, this low-moisture process involves the deep agitation of carpet fibres with specially formulated detergents, which trap and crystallise oily or sticky soil particles, for their simple removal by standard vacuuming. Commenting on the Cimexs suitability for encapsulation cleaning, Eldred said, It did in one pass what other machines could only accomplish in multiple passes a thorough cleaning job, Eldred said. When used with the detergent, the machine wasnt just another cleaning system, but an outstanding, low moisture cleaning method that changed the way we approach carpet cleaning.
