Machines prepare to do battle
February 1st 2009

The Cleaning Show 2009, is inviting cleaning professionals to test their skills in a battle of the machines. Looks like it’s time to say “hasta la vista, baby”

The Machine Competition takes place on day two of the show (Wednesday 11th March). Six contract cleaning companies will be invited to take part, using machines supplied by various manufacturers.

Participants will attempt to manoeuvre a ride-on scrubber dryer through a course of cones, scrub and dry a section of floor and return to the start. The task is done against the clock, with penalty time added for hitting cones, not completing the floor scrub or not using approved BICSc methods for scrubbing the floor.

There will be individual and team winners for those with the fastest time and best score. Entry fees will go to charity.

The event is in association with the Industrial Cleaning Machines Manufacturers Association (ICMMA) and Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA). It will be judged by the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc).The competition rules have been compiled by members of the BCC.

The Cleaning Show 2009 will also honour the latest advances in the business, when it stages the third Innovation Awards, chosen by a panel of experts across a wide range of industries.

Winners from the last show include, See Brilliance (Best Chemical Innovation),Totally Different (Washroom Products Innovation),Waste Recycle Company (Other Machines Award), Unger UK (Hand Tools Award), along with Industrial Cleaning Equipment and Premier FCM (Best Floor Cleaning Machine – joint award).
