COUNCIL OPTS TO GO GREEN

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council has taken delivery of two street cleansing vehicles from Bradshaw Electric Vehicles as part of its Neighbourhood Care Initiative.

The two vehicles, branded Clean and Green are 900kg capacity battery-powered pickups, with deep cage backs. They have sufficient range to operate an 8h shift and cope with the many gradients in Halifax. The vehicles return to a depot at night for battery charging

John Bates, Calderdales prinicpal parks manager, comments Sustainability is a major issue in Calderdale, so our transport solutions are moving away from fossil fuels wherever possible.

Bates continues The vehicle operators choose their own daily work patterns, taking responsibility for their areas and applying local knowledge to route-planning and frequency of visits.
