SANITISES KNIVES
December 1st 2004

As industrial food processors know only too well, frequently used knives can easily cause contamination. The usual practice of dipping blades into hot water is not entirely satisfactory, nor is it completely effective.

Saturno, known for its mobile and conveyor belt sanitising systems, now offers a knife-sanitising solution: the Knife Washer.

The equipment works by applying saturated steam at 250C to sanitise knives instantaneously as the blade is swiped through the aperture of the unit in much the same way as a table-mounted knife sharpener operates. Micro-organisms cannot survive at this temperature, rendering the blade safe to use.

The Knife Washer is quick and easy-to-use and can be sited alongside both conveyor belts and worktables. The unit is 2kW single phase mains powered, so can be used even within a small catering organisation.
