Food industry hygiene tools are fit for a Kingsmill...
April 1st 2006

Allied Bakeries Gateshead, which produces Kings Mill bread and buns, uses Vikan Hygiene Services' range of food industry specific cleaning tools and equipment. According to Allied's Hygiene Chargehand, David Field, the range is so hygienically effective that looking at other manufacturers'products has never even occurred to the company.

Ergonomic design, durability and strength aside, colour coding also plays a key role at the Gateshead branch, which has 250 operators working round the clock six days a week. Red is the colour used for general cleaning area with no food contact; green for food contact surfaces in the bread plants while yellow is used for washrooms. Tools are stored in Vikan's colour coded wall racks at specific workstations.

Constructed where possible in one piece for maximum hygiene, Vikan tools can be cleaned at high temperatures to eliminate any bacteria. "Vikan can't do enough to help us,"says David Field.
