Get to 'grits' with cleaning

A Nilfisk-Advance road sweeper, used by Sodexo for outdoor sweeping, has been customised to accommodate a towable gritter that, in winter, will keep internal roadways and carparks safe for employees and the company's high value vehicles

The diesel-powered RS 1300 road sweeper is used on a daily basis at the luxury car production plant for conventional outdoor sweeping of the 64 acre site. It is has two standard accessories - a high pressure cleaner for washing barriers and signs, and a suction hose for clearing fallen leaves and enabling easy access to litter in trees and landscaped areas.

John Greenhalgh, general services manager at the plant, explains that icy surfaces during the winter months are a potential hazard for the luxury cars and all site based staff.He says "Nilfisk-Advance provided a solution to all our outdoor sweeping and gritting needs in a single machine." The gritter attachment has an adjustable tow arm to suit even the smallest turning circle, which suits the RS 1300's rear steering axle.

Fast and highly mobile, the RS range of road sweepers is designed to tackle all kinds of outdoor cleaning demands in the private and public sectors, from footpaths to car parks and city streets.The top of the range RS 1300 specified by Sodexo has a high capacity 1300L hopper and combines a powerful 74HP diesel motor with a compact design. Furthermore, Nilfisk believes it to have the highest-powered suction nozzle and strongest airflow in this market segment. It can pick up all kinds of debris, including bottles and stones and, due to its special brush system, can sweep paths that are narrower than the machine itself. It has a climbing ability of up to 24%.

The customised RS 1300 is part of a complete indoor and outdoor cleaning equipment package from Nilfisk-Advance, which includes ride-on scrubber/dryers and high-speed burnishers.
