Ozone washing saves energy December 1st 2008 Girbau UK and its service and
installation division, JHC Laundry
Equipment, has launched its new
LaundrOzone ozone laundry
system to help laundries slash
energy bills and ensure verified
disinfection.
Launched after three years of
development with US company
Ozone Water Technologies
(OWT), the new Girbau/JHC
LaundrOzone washing system
claims to offer savings of
between 30-50% in electricity
consumption, 40-60% in hot
water and 10-30% in detergent.
The company says an ozoneequipped
Girbau/JHC laundry
can also provide indirect savings
of 25-35% in gas consumption;
upwards from 25% in labour
costs and 20-30% by prolonging
linen life.
"Ozone washing systems have
become popular in UK healthcare
applications in recent years
because they provide verified
disinfection," says Richard Neale,
director of the Laundry
Technology Centre (LTC). "With
energy prices so high, every
laundry should be looking at the
energy and money savings that
can be achieved using ozone
washing systems."
Girbau says ozone is one of the
most powerful disinfectants
known and proven effective
against bacteria including
superbugs like MRSA and the
resilient spores of C-diff.
As the LaundrOzone system
works effectively with cold water,
it significantly reduces electrical
consumption per machine.
Shorter wash cycles mean less
water is used, speeding up
drying times and increasing the
life of the linen.The company
claims that the finished laundry
is also brighter and fluffier.
Swinton Park, a luxury hotel in
North Yorkshire is among the first
to have installed a new
Girbau/JHC ozone-equipped
laundry. Girbau says Andrew
McPherson, general manager of
the hotel, expects to save over
£100,000 over the next five years,
while Susan Morris, head of the
laundry department, confirms
that the new washers fitted with
the OWT ozone system are
gentler on the laundry. More articles from Girbau UK Ltd: |
